I am selling a set of three vintage special stamps from China, "Taiwan Scenery." Symbol: T.42 Issue Date: October 20, 1979 Issuing Authority: Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China In 1978, after the People's Republic of China proposed the "Three Links" (postal, shipping, and trade) to Taiwan, the People's Daily newspaper began publishing articles introducing news and scenery of Taiwan under the title "Treasure Island of the Motherland - Taiwan" to promote exchanges and mutual understanding between people on both sides of the strait. On February 4, 1979, the People's Daily published color photographs of Taiwan scenery for the first time, which caused a great response. On the same day, the leadership of the China Stamp Issuing Bureau of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications decided to add the "Taiwan Scenery" special stamps to the 1979 stamp issuance plan. On October 20, 1979, the China Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued these special stamps to introduce the beautiful natural scenery and history of Taiwan. Stamp 1 (left) is titled "Chihkan Tower." The design depicts the Chihkan Tower, a government office built by the Dutch after they controlled Taiwan, which later became the official residence of Koxinga after he liberated Taiwan from Dutch rule during the Ming Dynasty. Stamp 2 (center) is titled "Jade Mountain." The design depicts the magnificent scenery of Jade Mountain, located in the tropics, and the forests and sea of clouds of Alishan, representing the characteristics of Taiwan's high mountain areas. Stamp 3 (right) is titled "Sun Moon Lake." The design depicts the lake and mountain scenery of Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan's largest natural lake and a famous scenic spot. The landscape of the lake and mountains is beautifully shimmering on the water surface, and a colorful cherry blossom is placed in the foreground, indicating that it is spring, adding more beauty to the scene. As a side note, collectors should be aware that some unscrupulous dealers have created forgeries of this stamp with advanced techniques, making it difficult to distinguish between genuine and fake. The first forgery discovered was a fake 8-cent stamp that was included in the 60th anniversary gift booklet of "Long Live the Motherland." Because of the high technology used to meticulously forge this stamp set, it has become somewhat difficult for collectors and stamp investors to determine its authenticity. This is a set of three used stamps as shown in the image. There are some wrinkles, but I believe they are in good condition for vintage used stamps. Please check the details in the images. No returns or exchanges. Shipping costs will be covered by me.
