Graduated from the Ceramics Department of the Prefectural Technical School in 1925. First selected for the Inten Exhibition in 1929, and exhibited every year thereafter. From 1933, he taught at the ceramics department of his alma mater, and retired in 1940 to move to Tokyo and begin his career as an artist. After exhibiting at the Shin-Bunten Exhibition, he exhibited at the Nitten Exhibition for a time after the dissolution of the Inten Sculpture Department. In 1965, he founded the Nichifuten Exhibition with fellow enthusiasts from the former Inten Exhibition, and served as Vice President, resigning in 1972. Vice President of the Japan Ceramic Sculpture Association.
