Before the emergence of the state and monotheism, far back in the Paleolithic era, people had been pondering deeply about the world and life. Most of this book is spent analyzing the Cinderella legend. This story has similar traditions distributed all over the world and contains a great many mythological elements. The author begins by comparing the most famous Charles Perrault version with the Grimm version, and then verifies similar tales that spread to Portugal, Russia, and 9th-century China, uncovering hidden messages such as Cinderella being an intermediary between the living and the dead.
