Originally, a yuzamashi is used to lower the temperature of hot water before pouring it into a teapot, but this vessel has a spout and handle, so it can be used not only as a yuzamashi when brewing sencha, but also as a katakuchi for dressings and sauces, or even as a mini teapot. The bottom is stamped with "Hendo" (Changed Clay), which likely indicates the nerikomi technique and a specific kiln.
