A rare type of camera manufactured by Petri for the US company Photochrome. Photochrome also seems to have been Petri's US distributor. This camera appears to have used positive film directly in a dedicated cartridge. The goal was to offer color prints at a price comparable to black and white photos. Since the film was used as a print as is, the image needed to be inverted, and a mirror inside the camera reflected the image 90 degrees, projecting it onto the film at the bottom. The body is made of one-piece molded plastic. Automatic exposure is controlled by the aperture, which features a circle-eye system using a selenium element. The color temperature of the film used was tungsten light, so a color filter is built into the lens, presumably for this correction. The camera was designed for ease of use, with a red warning indicator in the viewfinder prompting the use of a flash if underexposure occurs. It is estimated that more than 500 to 600 units were manufactured, but they are extremely rare to see on the market. [Appearance] Few signs of use, in good condition.
