The "M1400" is a model that has been manufactured in New Balance's own factory in the United States as the flagship series. Development began as the next model after the "M1300" in 1985, but the pursuit of ideal stability and cushioning resulted in the inability to mass-produce it with the technology of the time, and its productization was once postponed. The "M1500" appeared in 1989, and finally, five years later, in 1994, the "M1400" was finally realized.
