A cup and saucer from Gefle, a Swedish ceramic manufacturer. Gefle's representative Kosmos series has two types of forms. There is a rounded form and this sleek, straight form. "Korall," meaning coral, is a cup with a bright, gorgeous design within the series, expressed with shades of orange and brown. The uneven grooves at the bottom of the cup are shallow, but they are regularly carved, and the orange inside is visible, making for a beautiful finish. The overall mottled pattern and gradation of colors are accentuated by the dark brown at the top of the cup. This series has fine crazing. This is often seen in this series, so it may have been intentionally created. *Crazing is a phenomenon where cracks appear in the glaze during manufacturing, and it is not cracking. It is a large teacup size, so it is versatile, and it is recommended for use with plenty of milk cafe au lait or milk tea, or for soup. Gefle saucers often do not have a stamp, but this one has it clearly.
