This appears to be a repurposed obi (sash) made from a beautiful hand-painted sarasa (a type of textile) tsumugi (pongee) fabric, converted into an easy-to-wear type. It's a two-piece construction: the main part with the otaiko (back) and tare (drape) sections, with the tesaki (tip) sewn on (image 8), and a separate section with a string to wrap around the waist (image 9). The hand-painted sarasa design is lovely. The base color is madder red, similar to the color in image 1, although other images may appear slightly pinkish. The string shows signs of use and has some red color transfer.
