This is a shaku, used by Shinto priests at shrines. It's one I used when I was a tempura priest. It's not a cheap imitation, but a genuine article sold at a professional shrine supply store. There are tape marks because I had a purification prayer attached to it. Other than that, it's generally clean (because I was slacking off). I think the material was yew, but I'm not certain.
