This is a silk maru obi (a type of formal obi). The front features a pattern of cranes, chrysanthemums, and pine trees, while the back has a pattern of hawks and Mount Fuji, both auspicious designs. The obi feels sturdy, not too stiff and not too soft, making it easy to tie. It's longer than most antique maru obi, and it's a rare item because maru obi in good condition are scarce.
