Today, Tenmangu shrines, which are found throughout the country, call Sugawara no Michizane "Tenjin-san" and are revered as a refined god who appreciates poetry and the beauty of nature, as well as a god of learning. Generally, it is used for masks of the gods in mythology and the gods of the heavens in Buddhism. However, in Noh plays, based on articles from the "Taiheiki," Sugawara no Michizane is depicted as a wicked demon consumed by the flames of anger. The mouth is half-open, the surrounding beard is sharply raised, the eyebrows are furrowed, expressing an expression of anger, and the skin color is a brownish hue. Therefore, it is a mask with a stronger human touch compared to the "Otobide," and is used in the supporting roles of Noh plays such as "Kinsatsu" (Dai-tama no Mikoto), "Ema" (Tajikarao no Mikoto), and "Shari" (Idaten). Due to amateur photography, the colors may appear different depending on the lighting. However, since it has been stored in a dark place without being used at all after purchase, it is a beautiful item without any noticeable scratches or stains, in my amateur opinion.
