Artist Profile Minakumari Singer-songwriter & Sitar player Born in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. Debuted as the songwriter and guitarist of the girl band "CATCH-UP". Released three albums. Graduated from the Hindi Department of the Asian-African Language Institute. Studied in India and graduated from the Indian Diploma in Tea Studies. Studied under sitar player Monilal Nag in Kolkata, India. After returning to Japan, she participated in live performances and recordings of CHARA, Akino Arai, RIP SLYME, and Gonzales Mikami (GONTITI). She has also been active in numerous fields, participating in sessions with James Iha, Hanaregumi, Tabioto Nao, mabanua, ASA-CHANG, and U-zhaan. In 2012, she held a concert tour in France. The song "I am here" from her 2nd album "Rang" was used in the NHK morning drama series "Mare". In April 2017, the 4th album "REHENA" (LP) was released on analog. The 5th album is scheduled to be released in April 2018.
