This jacket faithfully reproduces the 1944 model, also known as the WWII model, from the Levi's Vintage Clothing timeline collection, which revives models from the past. In 1944, during World War II, the U.S. government requested that all clothing manufacturers conserve materials needed for the war effort by removing a certain amount of metal, fabric, and thread from clothing. Levi's cooperated with this request and modified their models to be simplified. The jacket had its pocket flaps removed, and the number of front buttons was reduced. Various types of buttons were used, including laurel wreath buttons, buttons engraved with the brand name, and plain buttons. The S506XX 1944 JACKET features 12-ounce selvedge fabric, four front buttons, pockets without flaps, laurel wreath buttons, and exposed non-branded rivets. It faithfully reproduces the original, from the fabric to the details, based on the TYPE I JACKET. The "S506XX" engraved on the patch stands for S=SIMPLIFY, indicating that it is a temporarily simplified model.
