In the 40s, he actively incorporated mambo, which blended jazz elements with the rumba that was popular at the time, in Havana, the capital of Cuba. However, it was not accepted in Cuba at the time, and he moved to Mexico in the late 40s. There, he formed his own band and gained popularity with an exciting sound that featured that high-hitter trumpet! Sensuous "Tabu"! It may be hard to believe for young people, but sadly, around '72-'73, when this song played, elementary school students of the time, first, Kato-cha with a small mustache would appear in their heads, and the scene would instantly go dark.
