The round dot in the center of the bottom (Photo 15) is a mark from the foot used when stacking the plates in the kiln. One plate is a flawless, beautiful item. The other plate has three chips on the underside of the rim. Photo 16: The most noticeable chip, about the size of a grain of rice and sesame seed combined. Photo 17: A chip the size of a grain of rice, but not very noticeable. There is also a less noticeable chip to the left of this chip, measuring 1.5 x 1.5 mm (no photo). There is another spot on the rim of the plate that looks like a chip the size of a grain of rice (Photo 18), but it appears to be a kiln scar caused by impurities in the clay. On the top surface of this plate, there is a noticeable kiln scar next to the pine, bamboo, and plum blossom pattern in the center (Photo 19). It's about the size of a bean used in the bean-throwing ceremony. There are also several other bumps and imperfections caused by impurities in the clay. Both plates have "nyu" (crazing, fine cracks in the glaze) due to aging (last photo). The flawless plate is priced at 2,000 yen, and the damaged plate is priced at 1,000 yen. Offered as a set.
