These are stamps designed by Alphonse Mucha, issued by Czechoslovakia. These stamps are among the first stamps issued when Czechoslovakia gained independence in 1918, and are called "postage due stamps." The postage due stamps feature a design of the leaves of the "Slavonic linden tree," the national tree of Czechoslovakia. The designer's signature, "MUCHA," can be seen in the lower left corner of the stamp.
