This is the "Kintaro Mask" by Morito Toyonaga, a Ryukyu Daruma doll artist from Okinawa Prefecture. This mask embodies Toyonaga's unique interpretation of folk tales and his creation of new characters, while still utilizing traditional daruma techniques and building his own world. The mask is charming with Toyonaga's signature generous and endearing painting and form. The detailed features, such as the small white teeth lining the inside of the pursed lips, are both heartwarming and unique. This item was purchased about 4-5 years ago at an event held at Isetan Department Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo, in the booth area of "Roadworks," the daruma production team led by Toyonaga. After purchase, it was kept in a dark corner of my living room (away from direct sunlight), so there is no subsequent sun fading or discoloration. However, please understand that it has the unique character of Toyonaga's work. Dimensions are approximately 170mm (length) x 155mm (width) x 40mm (height). Please note that these are amateur measurements and may contain some errors. The box is not included. As I personally enjoy vintage furniture and used clothing, I have stored it alongside these items. Therefore, those who are particularly sensitive to odors should be cautious when bidding. I do not smoke, so that should not be an issue.
