This is a cotton Sanada string (12mm/1.2cm wide) from Ori-moto Sumiya, an established Sanada string workshop in Kanazawa. It is a bag string (woven in a bag) style. It is thicker and much more durable than flat strings (plain weave). Unlike cheaper products, everything from dyeing the thread to weaving is done by skilled craftsmen, and it is known for its vibrant colors and gentle texture.
It is 5 meters long and can be used for tea ceremony utensils, box strings, warachi sandals, dog goods, and other handmade materials.
Sanada strings are also the perfect thickness for passing through obi clasps, and more and more people are choosing them for obi cords.
