The box has been reinforced and repaired. [7] Condition: There are no noticeable scratches or stains, but there are some minor scuffs. (Please check the images.) [8] Shape: Natural stone inkstone with a lid made of the same stone, carved with bamboo and leaves, and a brush rest. ◉ About the Artwork The Akama inkstone, with its unique reddish hue, is said to be the only one of its kind in Japan. Its fine, hard, and dense stone quality, along with its beautiful stone surface, is characteristic. ◯ This artwork has a lid, which helps to retain the ink well. The knob is made from a bamboo stem, and bamboo leaves are carved on it. The lid fits perfectly with the inkstone body, allowing you to appreciate the high skill of the maker. Furthermore, the bamboo and leaves around the lid and edges are carefully engraved to make them stand out. Compared to a no-lid inkstone, a lidded one requires twice the effort. A brush rest is attached to the right side of the edge.
