This is a Nagoya obi made by Heiro Kitagawa. It is by the 17th head (1898-1988) of the long-established Nishijin textile company, Tawaraya, who was a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure). He was a versatile textile artist who restored ancient textiles and produced courtly textiles. It features an elegant wisteria-colored chrysanthemum pattern in courtly weave. Although it is a Nagoya obi, its dignified design and heavy weave allow it to be worn with formal attire. 361cm x 30.5cm There are no noticeable stains or dirt, but there is a stain about 42cm from the hand end (photo 8). This does not interfere with wear. Some threads are loose on the hanging part (photo 7). There are wrinkles from wear. This is a used item. Please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned. Please read the profile.
