This rug was purchased during a trip to Teotitlán del Valle, a rug-making village in Oaxaca, Mexico. It was made by the Zapotec people. It has vibrant colors and is very cute. The colors of this rug are dyed using natural dyes, without the use of chemicals. Blue comes from indigo, yellow from rosemary, and red from cochineal, an insect harvested from cacti. The dye is extracted from these natural sources and used to dye the yarn before weaving. It is handmade with care, taking a long time to create. It has a very natural color palette. The unique color combinations of the local people are attractive. It can be used in the entrance, living room, bedroom, etc. Washing is not recommended as it may shrink. Since purchasing, it has been new and unused, and has been carefully stored. However, as it is handmade and not a perfect industrial product, it is made by hand from spinning the wool, so there may be some grass fibers attached to the wool in places.
