Even now, as times change, they continue to create lacquerware that naturally blends into modern life, while inheriting the traditional techniques such as the beauty of hand-applied lacquer and the reliability of wood base construction. The ASOBE three-tiered jubako "Shunran" (Spring Orchid) is a refined item with the motif of the spring orchid that blooms quietly in the early spring mountains and fields. The understated yet dignified appearance of the spring orchid is delicately depicted along with the deep luster of the lacquer, bringing a calm splendor to the dining table. The lacquerware, which is finished by skilled craftsmen one by one by hand, has an attractive smooth texture that clings to the hand and a flavor that increases with use. This three-tiered jubako is a slightly smaller size and can also be used as individual plates for serving Japanese sweets for tea ceremony tools.
