This is the original "Ryoma-kun Encouragement Doll" released by Bandai in 1985. When Mamakichi was young, they gave this to their grandmother as a present, but it was recovered when the grandmother moved. As you can see, it's a doll of Ryoma Sakamoto. When you pull the sword, the string retracts (from the second generation onwards, it seems to be the type that speaks when you press the sword; no batteries are required). It used to say things like, "Don't sweat the small stuff!" and "Don't be down!" However, when I pulled it out again after a long time, it spoke so fast, like fast-forwarding an old cassette tape, that I couldn't understand it. It's a very old item (40 years old...), so it has some sun damage and dirt, but I'm sad to throw it away. I would be happy if someone who loves Ryoma-san or Showa retro items would welcome it. (The original item was much paler, and the kimono was a beautiful indigo color. Our Ryoma-kun has been on shelves and under the TV stand, so his skin is tanned, and his kimono has aged.) There is no box or accessories. There is a faint smell of the material of the body (probably ABS resin).
