This is a fan from Miyawaki Sensu in Kyoto. It was purchased at the main store in Kyoto. Brand new, unused item. Called "Suehiro," it is generally inserted into the obi sash when wearing a black formal kimono (kuro-tomesode) or a visiting kimono (houmongi) at weddings and formal occasions. This fan is necessary for a black formal kimono. The length is 18cm, a refined size for inserting into the obi. For women, items like this one, with gold and silver, are common.
