This is a set of tea ceremony utensils from Kihachi Kobo of Yamanaka lacquerware, using the chinkin technique. The chinkin technique involves carving patterns onto the surface of lacquerware with a knife as thin as a hair, and then pressing gold leaf, gold powder, and pigments such as blue and red into the carvings. This piece is designed with inspiration from fireworks rising into the night sky. This item is a used product and has scratches and stains from use.
