Antique Creil et Montereau "Fraise" Strawberry Plate with Floral Rim Relief, Barbotine This strawberry-patterned barbotine, known as the "George Sand Model" because it was ordered by the writer George Sand, who was also known as Chopin's lover, has been highly sought after. It seems that even in France, it's popular, and current reproductions are also being made. It appears that it was only produced for a short period, making it difficult to find, and the antique versions are traded at high prices in the French antique industry. The reason it doesn't feel overly sweet despite the strawberry motif is likely because the roots are also depicted. This makes me understand the popularity of Flora Danica (Royal Copenhagen), which depicts plants down to their roots. This piece is from the Creil et Montereau kiln, dating back 150 years, and is in remarkably good condition with a beautiful luster! Although not immediately noticeable, there is a small chip on the edge. However, I don't think it detracts significantly from the piece, and the price has been slightly adjusted to reflect this. Both are considered part of the charm, and the piece has a beautiful luster overall, with no cracks or chips, and is in good condition.
