Although I don't practice calligraphy, I purchased this antique Unryu suzuri (dragon cloud inkstone). As it doesn't have an ink well and the hill (ink grinding surface) is shallow, I believe it's suitable for uses requiring a small amount of ink, or for writing sutras, where fine brushes are used. Size and Weight: Suzuri: 18.5 x 12.5 x 2 cm, 1.1 kg Box: 20.7 x 14.2 x 4.5 cm, 0.7 kg The wooden box, judging by its color and grain, is likely made of high-grade ebony (kokutan) or rosewood (shitan). Please note that as there are no markings on the suzuri or box, the manufacturer and the origin of the stone are unknown. Also, there is a crack in a part of the wooden box, so please check the images.
