This is a summer obi made of sha (thin silk) by Orietsu. I listed an identical obi (used a few times) about two years ago, but I had another one. This one is unused. It was at my parents' house, and I think my mother was planning to have a matching bag, etc., made with it. There are traces of it being folded once, but the fold lines won't show when worn as an otaiko (traditional obi knot). It's in very beautiful condition. A classic pattern of tortoiseshell with pinks (dianthus) inside. It has a lovely feel within its formality, and I think it has the refined atmosphere that is typical of Orietsu. The base color is like vermilion, but the front has a shimmering gold thread throughout, making it appear brighter. I am offering it at a good price, but it is a high-quality item. It is unused and in excellent condition. The kimono shown in the 9th photo is for coordination reference only and is not included. It goes very well with black-ground tsukesage or homongi (formal kimono). It would also be lovely with solid-colored kimono in subdued colors like matcha green or gray. The coordination photos with this kimono were taken when I listed an obi of the same pattern before, and the one I am selling this time is the one shown in photos 1-8.
