"Bing" refers to colors in general, and "gata" means pattern. It was used for the clothing of the royal family and samurai class from the Ryukyu Kingdom era, expressing the nature and culture of the southern islands. It is characterized by using a stencil to apply paste for the patterns, and then applying pigments or dyes to finish.
