It was designed by SEAN MCDOWELL, a designer who had just joined NIKE. The scenery of a Florida beach he visited with a friend during work, and the sky changing to a deep blue, stimulated Sean's imagination. The inspiration for the design came from the palm trees lined up on the beach and the tail fins of whales leaping out of the water. The upper, finished with a single-layer construction, is colored with gradation, and a resin cage modeled after palm trees is stretched over it. In addition, a shank plate resembling a whale's tail fin is designed in the center of the midsole, preventing twisting. Furthermore, TUNED AIR, which enhances stability and cushioning, is installed in the heel. In this model, the high-tech silhouette is wrapped in high-quality leather, creating a sense of luxury that blends in with a different casual style. The distinctive TPU cage is reproduced by embossing, and black textured leather is used for the upper.
