This is an unidentified fukuro obi (formal obi) I received from a relative. There are signs of it having been tied, and there are creases from long-term storage. The gentle pink ground color, reminiscent of pale cherry blossom (hai-zakura and usu-zakura), features a dreamy haze and a six-panel design with cloud patterns shimmering with gold thread, adding depth. The gold foil ground adds elegance, and the classic design of blooming peonies, camellias, and irises will, I believe, adorn celebratory attire with a refined yet soft impression. This is an elegant piece suitable for formal occasions, such as when paired with a visiting kimono (homongi).
