Made in Japan and handmade, so the quality is very good. The tip opening is 6★ (2.4mm). Currently produced models have the MKII stamp, but this one does not, so it is believed to be from a slightly earlier period. This is a reproduction of the Selmer Soloist short shank model, a vintage mouthpiece with deep-rooted popularity. The AIZEN SO mouthpiece features a narrowed horseshoe-shaped chamber, offering a warm, vibrant tone, smooth breath entry, and excellent response. Some may find other Soloist types to have a muffled and unclear sound, but this is not the case here. The sound has a clear outline, and depending on the playing style and reed, it can produce both clean and mellow tones, making it a very enjoyable mouthpiece, I think. I purchased it used in May 2024 and used it for about two weeks. There are scratches on the tip (the part you put in your mouth) and the shank (the base) from the beginning, but they do not affect the performance. Please see the photos. There are a few tooth marks from the beginning, but I used it with a patch. It has been thoroughly cleaned.
