Situated at a geographical crossroads of civilizations, Afghanistan's rugs further developed. West to Persia, East to China. Afghanistan, sandwiched between nations with rug industries, has incorporated techniques and sensibilities from both East and West into its unique rugs. ◾️ About Colors and Design Rugs made by the Baluch people, with a base of red and vermilion, are famous, but this rug has a rare design with various colors. You can see that each has its own pattern, not just simple stripes. I think it's a design that is reminiscent of the continuous mountains of Afghanistan. Also, hand-twisted wool is used for the fabric. The yarn is woven in a state of strong twisting. By creating the twist, the density of the yarn increases, and more vivid colors and designs are emphasized.
