This is a lyrical Nagoya obi with bamboo depicted through hand-painting and embroidery on a gold-threaded brown background woven with fine threads. The supple bamboo nodes and leaves are expressed three-dimensionally through soft hand-painting and delicate embroidery applied in parts. The gold-threaded background adds depth and elegant splendor to the bamboo design. The thinly woven, soft fabric with very fine threads is easy to conform to the body and is characterized by a light and comfortable fit. There is some darkening throughout, characteristic of gold threading, but this can be enjoyed as a tasteful vintage aesthetic. There is a stain on the pocket of the belly wrap and fraying at the seams. It will be sold as-is, so please consider it with the understanding that it may require cleaning. Pairs well with Tsumugi, Komon, and antique kimonos. The subdued colors create a sophisticated and stylish adult coordination when paired with beige or gray kimonos. It also makes an excellent design for remaking into other items.
