The starting point was organizing the kimonos left by my grandmother. When I tried to wear them, the sizes just didn't fit, and I was faced with the reality that I couldn't wear them as they were. When I took them to a recycling shop, I felt an indescribable sadness at the low price they were offered. It's a shame that something that has been carefully passed down will be buried like this. Because I love kimonos, I kept thinking, "How can I get someone else to use them again?" That's when I arrived at the form of han-eri. By carefully cutting out the good parts and giving them a new role, I thought it might be possible to create a cycle where they could live on in the world of fashion once more. I started this activity with that thought in mind. I had long thought that a white collar was sufficient for a han-eri, but once I started, it was a truly fun and profound world.
