Size: Diameter: Approximately 15cm Height: Approximately 3.5cm This is a millefiori plate created by Dorian, a Venetian glass artist born and raised on Murano Island, Venice, in a small, family-run workshop on Murano Island. The workshop is called Pagan. (Workshop sticker on the back) This is not a decorative plate. It's a small plate made by arranging glass beads called murrine or murrini (mullini, murrina, murina) – flower-patterned, stick-candy-like glass – in a mold, firing it twice, and then carefully polishing each one for a long time. The matte finish provides a pleasant touch and a luxurious feel. While Venetian glass plates are often round, this one is an octagonal plate, which is difficult to mold. It has a simple design that can be used in everyday life, perfect for serving tea sweets, Japanese sweets, cookies, cakes, fruits, and more. With its moderate depth, it's also recommended for desserts with liquids, such as puddings, ice cream, and sweets with custard sauce. Even just serving bright red strawberries on it looks wonderful. Dorian's works use "thinner murrine" compared to other workshops (about half the size of Moretti's), which takes more effort and time to produce. However, the result is a delicate and light-feeling plate.
