The name Moriyama-yaki comes from the place name of Moriyama, Mori-machi. It follows the tradition of Shidoro-yaki, one of the Enshu Shichiyo (seven kilns), which was guided and designed by Kobori Enshu, an excellent tea master of the Edo period and the founder of the Enshu school of tea ceremony.
