The two replacement styli were probably unused, but (I'm not certain) I used them for about 10 seconds to check their operation, and there were no problems. One of the original styli is worn. The exterior condition is very clean. I wiped it lightly with a disinfectant wipe. I recommend cleaning the contact points before installation.
