A small panda-motif sake cup by ceramic artist Tomoya Numata. The playful, gentle touch on the white porcelain is a delight to the eye. Two pandas are depicted, one on the front and one on the back. The blurring gives each a different expression, which is a nice touch. Numata creates his works in Takahagi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and uses a variety of painting techniques, from classical to modern patterns. There is a very small chip on the upper rim (see photo 2). I don't think it will affect drinking at all, but please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned, as it is the lip of the cup. The overall condition is not bad, but due to the handmade nature of the item, please be aware that there may be some slight warping of the vessel, small iron spots, and pinholes.
