This is a ceramic water container (futaoki) by Mizunosawa San, a potter from Gifu Prefecture. Made at the Yozan kiln. Mizuno-san, who studied under Kato Keishu and learned Japanese painting in Kyoto, and also studied under Miyamoto Kenkichi, creates works that are very unique, yet also possess warmth. He is an artist who presented works to Emperor Showa, the Emperor Emeritus, and Prince Mikasa Takahito. He received the Gifu Prefecture Traditional Culture Inheritance Award. He is certified as a holder of Intangible Cultural Property by Toki City. This water container features a glaze (kusuri) that adds to the work's charm. I have decided to sell it because I have stopped practicing the tea ceremony. It has been used very little and is in good condition. The second photo is from a collection of his works and is included to introduce the artist. This book is not included with the item. Type: Pottery
