Antique French guipure lace applique-style, multi-layered, three-dimensional, and featuring moving petals and plump embroidery. This charming piece is a (for babies, children, or dolls)付け襟 (collar), cape, or shawl. Large sunflowers and small, sideways three-leaf-like flowers. Embroidered stems and vines. The petals all rise from the base, fluttering and swaying, graceful and lovely. The beautiful openwork pattern of the sunflower's tubular flowers (buds ➳ seed-bearing part). Two-tiered ladder lace on the rim, floral motif edging, and the plump, voluminous outline and edges created by the rich thread count. The gentle curves of the feminine scallop. Picot lace and tiny pom-poms. It's very gorgeous with only white thread embroidery. It can be used as a cape, mantle, or coat for small dolls and mignonette dolls. It seems to be a work finished with a mix of machine-made and handmade techniques. Perhaps it was originally tailored for cuffs. It can be fixed by attaching metal fittings to the back. If you wish, I will sew on small buttons & loops, etc. The base material is cotton, or possibly cotton & linen. The base is slightly thinner than medium-weight, with a slight sheer quality and a gauze-like appearance. It has a smooth, soft, and gentle texture. I feel the embroidery thread is cotton.
