I watched a wonderful Nutcracker for the first time in a while. As expected, it's Vienna, the former Habsburg Empire. The costumes, production, and performers are all wonderful, and it's a splendid and gorgeous stage that is a bit different from the four major companies. It's a DVD, but the picture quality is also very beautiful. It's a work that people of all ages, from children to adults, can appreciate. ★★★ Quoted from reviews on the web: ① The Nureyev version of The Nutcracker, featuring Elisabeth Maurin and Laurent Hilaire, was recorded in 1988 and released on VHS, but I think this is the first time it has been released on DVD. The dancing of the lead, Ludmila Konovalova, is wonderful and worth watching. Manuel Legris, one of Bebe Leleev, served as artistic director and directed the stage, so I think it is also meaningful as a ballet video. The video is beautiful, and you can enjoy it as if you were in the theater. This is a recommended one. All the dances in the second act are of a high level and wonderful. Throughout the second act, a mature, adult ballet befitting the Vienna State Opera is performed. There is a sense of elegance and sophistication in the unique dances and, in particular, the costumes. Each dance is also composed of multiple dancers, creating a gorgeous atmosphere. Among them, the costumes and the sensuality of the dance in the Arabian dance are wonderful. The most spectacular is the Waltz of the Flowers. The champagne gold colors and the gorgeousness of the Vienna National Theater, with a sense of depth and elegance, are superb.
