This is a set of two rice bowls from Jingdezhen, a representative porcelain production area in China. They are made using the traditional "Hotaruyaki (Reirou/Linlong)" technique, where the rice-grain-shaped patterns on the sides of the bowls appear to glow like fireflies when held up to the light. This is a very beautiful effect, and they are also known and loved in the West as "rice pattern" ware. The bottom (foot) of the bowls is marked "中国景徳鎮 MADE IN CHINA".
