Thank you for viewing! These are 100% linen steteco (men's underpants) with a silky smoothness, handmade. I purchased the fabric and sewed these myself. Originally, this linen fabric was intended for use in the undergarments worn beneath the kesa (Buddhist robes) of temple priests. It has a moderate stiffness and the characteristic crispness of linen. As you can see in the photos, it's thin enough that the edge of a tatami mat is slightly visible. I made these for myself and wear them under kimono or pants. As expected of linen! I used to wear cotton chijimi (crepe) types, but these are incomparably more comfortable. The fabric is called "kinmasa jobu" (fine linen), and it seems to be of very high quality (perhaps too good to be made into steteco...) It doesn't cling, yet it absorbs moisture, so I always feel dry. As someone with a tendency to sweat, I've become very comfortable. The rise is made shallow, which eliminates the stickiness between the thighs. The waist is elastic and can expand up to 104 cm. An 80 cm piece of elastic is inserted. It's temporarily secured, so please adjust it to your preferred length. These have a length that covers the knees. Also, they are low-rise, making them easy to put on and take off even when wearing a kimono with an obi (sash). They also look neat under skirts and gaucho pants, as the waist area doesn't overlap. I purchased a very long piece of fabric, so I'm currently making the next steteco. If you're interested, please check back later.
