This is a woman's yukata made with Arimatsu-Narumi shibori. Arimatsu shibori is a general term for cotton shibori produced in the Arimatsu-Narumi area of Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. Using the shibori technique of tying and dyeing fabric, various patterns are created. Because of its light and cool feel, it is mainly used as yukata fabric, and the Arimatsu-Narumi area is the largest shibori dyeing production area in the country. In 1975, it was designated as a traditional craft of Japan under the name "Arimatsu-Narumi Shibori." Shibori yukata fabric is thinner than general yukata fabric, light and fluffy, with a unique uneven texture that makes it less likely to stick to the skin, and has a gentle feel. Also, shibori yukata does not require dry cleaning or ironing, and can be easily washed at home. The unevenness also makes wrinkles less noticeable, making it easy to wear, which is one of its charms.
