Thank you for viewing. This is a lidded item I purchased at an antique market about 10 years ago. The floral arabesque design, especially the addition of flowers to the arabesques, is the most striking feature. The depiction of the leaves is also quite detailed. The arabesque swirls are well-defined. It's a piece from the period between Tako-karakusa (octopus arabesque) and Mijin-karakusa (fine arabesque). The shop owner said it was likely from the Meiji or Taisho era. The flowers, including peonies, camellias, and chrysanthemums, are intricately painted and gilded, making it very luxurious. The rim pattern is an alternating swirl design, which is also present on the lid. These are rarely seen these days. The inside design features what could be called three-petaled flowers. They are stylized and have a cute appearance. The lid can also be used as a small plate. Size: Approximately 8 cm in height (including lid) Approximately 10.5 cm in width (including lid) It is being offered at a low price due to some imperfections. There is a chip on the edge of the lid. There are multiple hairline cracks (nyu) in the bowl. Please check the images carefully. No water leakage. I will be listing other items, such as old Imari ware, so please take a look.
