This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It appears to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is likely that it was used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. The touch of the hand-spun yarn is incredibly gentle, and it feels like it has been used extensively, but the fabric is very sturdy. There are tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the faded indigo color is refreshing.
