This single unit can be used for frying, simmering, grilling, stir-frying, boiling, steaming, and cooking. Since they function as a pot and lid for each other, these two items cover everything. I have never used it for cooking. However, it has scratches because I stored another pot inside it for space-saving purposes. Personally, I don't think it will affect cooking, but please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned. See photos.
