This is a Hagoita (decorative paddle) display from about 30 years ago. The Hagoita has been removed, so you can display your favorite one. The front opens, and it's lavishly decorated with a rice bale, a mallet, Mizuhiki (decorative cords) with pine, bamboo, and plum, and a Tsukesage (semi-formal kimono) decoration. It has a music box that plays a New Year's Day melody. The front-opening doors make it easy to put in and take out items, and to clean. Hagoita with a height of 54-55cm can be placed inside.
