Hannya Shingyo Silver Ring Amulet The Hannya Shingyo (Heart Sutra) was brought from India in the 6th century by the Chinese monk Xuanzang. Xuanzang translated the "Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra" written in Sanskrit into Chinese, creating the "Great Prajna Paramita Sutra" in 600 volumes, abbreviated as the "Great Prajna Sutra." The Hannya Shingyo is an excerpt of the essence of this sutra, condensed into about 300 characters, and it is said to have entered Japan around the 8th century.
